Therefore there are neither VAT nor Alcohol tax which makes many products a lot cheaper than on the main land of Venezuela. Especially clothes are generally quite resonably priced here Next to the big shopping centers Sambil and Jumbo you will find down town Porlamar to be a great address for your shopping or window shopping.

Shopping Malls
The 2002 built Sambil is the most visited shopping center of the Isla Margarita. In 200 shops you will find mostly big trade names from perfume and shoes over clothing to electro articles.
But your stomach is not going to be forgotten. From simple fast food to gourmet food, all is available. A cinema center and a Bingo-Casino complete are there as well.
The other slightly smaller shopping centers are Jumbo, Rattan Plaza and Sigo.

Porlamar
You will find less expensive things in Porlamar downtown in a great variety of small shops if trade names are not that important for you.
Around Plaza Bolivar, in the Boulevards Gomez and Guevara and along the main streets 4 de Mayo and Santiago Marino one can easily find something for any taste or purse.

Mercado de Conejeros
An unforgettable experience is the visit of the local Market of Los Conejeros is the shoppers destination. T-shirts, shorts, towels, swimsuits, sandals and much more are found along hundreds of small stalls. The eastern end is the clothing area, the western end, a lively center for fresh fruits, vegetables, poultry, fish, food and dry goods. In the central area you will find the fast food stands. Juan Griego, situated at the north west coast of Margarita is worth a stop on a shopping tour.
Hammocks, selfmade baskets and pottery are best bought in Santa Ana and Tacarigua in the center of Margarita. The least expensive perls can be found at the beach of the Lagune La Restinga
